OKLAHOMA CITY — Aruba’s Chadwick Tromp delivered the finishing touch Thursday night, September 10, blasting his first home run with the Oklahoma City Comets in an 8–0 victory over the Sugar Land Space Cowboys at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
With Matt Gorski and Austin Gauthier on base in the eighth inning, Tromp sent a ball over the left-field wall for a three-run homer. The swing brought both teammates home and gave fans back in Aruba another moment to celebrate as he rounded the bases in a Comets uniform. Watch Tromp’s home run.
Oklahoma City had already established control before Tromp stepped up. James Tibbs III opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning, followed by a two-run homer from Ryan Ward. Zach Ehrhard added an RBI single in the second, and Alek Thomas drove in another run in the seventh.
Tromp’s eighth-inning blast then stretched the advantage from 5–0 to 8–0, completing the scoring on a night when Oklahoma City delivered at the plate and on the mound.
Starter Landon Knack pitched five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out four. The Comets held Sugar Land to six hits overall.
The victory carried significance in the playoff race. Oklahoma City matched its Bricktown-era record with a 12th consecutive win and moved three games ahead of Sugar Land atop the Pacific Coast League’s second-half standings with nine games remaining. Official Comets game recap.
